Biography
In 1993 Dan X discovered his love for house music while attending nightclubs and parties. Within a few years, Dan was working at Revolutions Records and DJing on a regular basis at local club residencies and underground events throughout the Midwest.
As Dan continued to grow as a DJ, his aspiration to create pushed him to express himself as an artist. After a few years in the studio, Dan met fellow Chicago producer, Richie Heller. Together they recorded under the guise of “Dirty Sole”, and wrote the dancefloor smash “Skattered Jazz” for Classic Recordings which topped the UK Muzik Magazine charts at number 5.
After achieving early success in the studio, Dan teamed up with Justin Long to form No Assembly Firm. The duo quickly rose to the top of the production scale as they completed well over two dozen projects for highly acclaimed labels including work for Classic, Cajual, Junior Boys Own, Robsoul, Aroma, Music For Freaks, Doubledown, Greens Keepers Music and many more. As their discography continued to grow, their music smashed speakers across the globe while repeatedly being licensed to major mix compilations for labels such as Ministry of Sound, Om Records, Renaissance and more.
In addition to his production work, Dan has also traveled extensively as a DJ to headline venues across the globe. Since the late 90s, Dan has performed in Brussels, Liverpool, Sheffield, Glasgow, Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland, Toronto, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Kansas City, Seattle, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more.
Aside from the creative aspects, Dan also works with house diva Miss Honey Dijon as co-owner of Peaches Music. The label is in it’s seventh year of production and boasts a “who’s who” of house music with it’s artist roster.
Currently, Dan is working on multiple solo projects, including remix work for Derrick Carter, The Freaks and Colette. In addition to the remix work, Dan is also producing a full Dirty Sole album alongside Richie Heller and Johnny Dangerous of Foremost Poets.
Dan is constantly refining himself as an artist, by taking on projects that challenge and influence his creative ability. With strong production credits and respect amongst his peers, Dan ranks within Chicago’s elite.
