REMIX
|
Stovetop Recordings presents the "Still Awake" ep featuring Detroit up and comer Tim Nobody. On this ep, Tim blends techno, funk, jazz, and hip-hop into a funky house format. Holland's very own Tommy Largo comes through with a remix reminiscent of the early 90's warehouse/acid movement. The legendary Toronto based Jason Hodges wraps up this ep with dual remixes. His main mix showcases his classic, bouncy style with gritty drums, a low frequency bassline and filtered loops. Jason's alternate mix goes a little bit deeper with a techno influenced edge.

BRETT JOHNSON – New Release ‘Got Bleep?’
Artist: Brett Johnson
Title: Got Bleep?!
OUT NOW!!
Track list
1. En El Pegajoso (Main Mix)
2. En El Pegajoso (Dub Mix)
3. Postage Paid |
After few moments of silence during the hot summer months, we return to you with another audio documentation of dance floor destruction! For this chapter of the manifesto Brett Johnson returns to the soapbox with a 3 chaptered message.
Chapter 1 El Pegajoso (Main Mix) – The proclamation is loud and clear where no foot is to be left standing still and all will work together in unison to bring down the walls of the establishment. Spoken with a mixture of languages, Brett fuses a Latin vibe with his robot soul style with a mass of drum machine beats and sonic synths that lead the dancer into the next stage of floor disorder!
Chapter 2 El Pegajoso (Dub Mix) – The message to the subterranean warrior. In true dub fashion, Brett’s message is spoken in clear low tones with a sub base that will strike right to the body! This is as proper as a dub can be with elements from the original stripped down, repeated and collaged together with shades from house music philosophers past. This is not for lightweights and is to be used with extreme caution!
Chapter 3 Postage Paid – The final ideals are presented in classic Brett lingo focusing on groove and shuffle brought together with subliminal specters from below the foundations of Groove. If you are familiar with the classic texts of ‘Johnson’ then you are no stranger to the language pulsating here!
These are essential words in sound that will secure the existence of our House. |

MARK FARINA – remixes Preservation Hall & Mos Def
On May 12th, 2010, Mos Def and Preservation Hall’s Ben Jaffe met in New Orleans to collaborate on a song to benefit The Gulf Relief Foundation, an organization providing relief for those affected by the Gulf oil spill catastrophe.
In an all-night jam session less than 12 hours later, they recorded the song at Preservation Hall with the newly formed Gulf Aid Allstars: Mos Def, Lenny Kravitz, Trombone Shorty, Tim Robbins and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. NEW FROM RAOUL BELMANS!
The Remastered Bits series continues with another fine Cosy Creatures installment released on vinyl only already 12 years ago. JT Donaldson & Lance DeSardi were teaming up really often those days and their remix of ‘Espionage’ was huge back then and anno 2010 still sounding fresh… and now also remastered so even better! ‘You Got Me Tweeked’ is another funky disco affair in other words: ‘hands in the air’ and the Deep Fried Cosy Re-Interpretation of ‘Adventures In Dancing’ brings the slower house groove back to life making your fingers snap a thousand times.
MISS HONEY DIJON - A TASTE OF HONEY

 |
New York-based, Chicago-bred house DJ unofficially crowned as Derrick Carter's fave DJ, Honey Dijon has been playing since she moved to NYC. – DJ Magazine
Based in New York, Miss Honey’s recent gigs for such clients as Visionare, Hermes, Chloe, The CFDA Awards, Loewe, Narciso Rodriguez and other global taste-makers are making her one of the most sought after dj’s for top fashion calendar events. Other headlining appearances include Berlin’s Love Parade, Ministry of Sound, Respect is Burning in Paris, and the annual Winter Music Conference in Miami.
A native of the Windy City, Honey was first inspired by the legendary house sounds of such dj pioneers as Ron Hardy, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, and Frankie Knuckles. When she moved to New York, Honey became great friends with even more influential dj’s, including the amazing Danny Tenaglia, who finally urged her to get behind the decks. Seducing club-goers with her unique sound all over the world, she is becoming a must-see dj in many cities.
Although she spins a distinct Chicago sound with inflections of the deep New York underground, Miss Honey prides herself on a style that is all her own. In fact, Honey is one of the few dj’s in recent years to defy pigeon-holing. She draws from a wide repertoire of musical styles; from old school Chicago house, disco, tech-house, tribal, funk, soul, and r&b. As a gifted and experienced dj, Honey knows how to manipulate any crowd. Whether she is easing them into a trancey vibe with the dark sounds of techno, or lifting them up with pumping house, she knows how to rock a party!

02. That’s How (Ken ECB’s Fun With A Moog Mix) | Mark Farina | GLA
03. That’s How (Sonny Fodera’s Beatdown Mix) | Mark Farina | GLA
04. That’s How (JT Donaldson Remix) | Mark Farina | GLA
“Played it at the pool and people really appreciate the track. I love the Chuck Love remix, but I will play the Sonny Fodera for the dance floor.” - Roman Rosati | Nikki Beach
“Very cool package indeed! Ken’s remix is off the hook!” - Zoran | Bump Music, Frequency Spectrum
|
Following the worldwide success of Farina’s GEOGRAFFITI EP, GLA releases That’s How | Remixes. The package features four powerful reinterpretations of the single by Chuck Love, Sonny Fodera, JT Donaldson and Ken ECB.
Chuck Love takes you on a minimal, sample studded ride into late night, peppering this luscious river of sound with just the right bleeps and bumps from his signature melodica.
Ken ECB offers up a neck snapping beat with a low slung bass line, rudeboy Moog bursts and a thick velvet-esque synth line. He ties it all together with the original vocal pieces that clearly implies “Playtime is over, it’s time to get down!”
Sonny Fodera delivers a banging rework; tub thumping and a jackin' delight, subtle layers of keys and chopped vocals keep this track moving along without ever losing energy.
JT Donaldson brings his remix south of the border with it's latin laced keys and flute arrangements. A rich and full bass line keeps the track grounded on the dance floor, while the sultry keys and horns lift it high and keep it funky. |

The Tracks Are Alive: available June 14
The Tracks Are Alive is loaded with the kind of leftfield, organic sounding house which is at once club orientated but with enough interest and depth to keep the home listener totally absorbed. Pezzner has a very unique sound and isn’t afraid to push things in a fairly abstract direction sonically. Obviously having 80 minutes to play with is something he’s embraced wholeheartedly so for anyone who enjoys the wholesome, intricate House of say Stimming mixed with Buriel’s blissed out electronica we’re sure you’ll dig this.

Colette Launches Candy Talk Records!
Producer Joshua Heath unwraps new label with “Call on Me” feat. Colette, five additional remixes
LOS ANGELES—There’s no sugar coating it--Colette Marino continues driving the future of dance music as she announces the launch of her new label, Candy Talk Records. A project more than 10 years in the making, Candy Talk will feature releases from a rotating cast of some of house music’s most venerable artists. And much like the nature of her live-performance DJ sets, Colette’s new label dials up a dynamic sound that defies the conventionalities of house music.
Ushering in the label’s arrival is producer Joshua Heath’s six-track EP “Call on Me,“ which features the production and remix talent of Chuck Love (Minneapolis, MN), Lawnchair Generals (Seattle, WA), Giano, (Selma, CA) and Sexual Chocolate (Chicago, IL). Steeped in beats of funk and jazz, “Call on Me” doubles with organic and electro grooves that she says embody the essence of the Candy Talk sound.
“As a DJ, I’m always on the lookout for music that inspires me--be it house, tech or electro,” the artist says. “I’d like my label to reflect the eclectic nature of my DJ sets, making its way everywhere from dark & dirty clubs to big ol’ shiny raves.”
Launching a label like Candy Talk has been on Colette’s radar since the release of her seminal DJ mix “Our Day” on Nettwerk Records in 2001. Since then, the classically trained singer/DJ/producer has gone on to win two U.S. Dancestar awards, performed as part of several international tours and released two full-length albums on San Francisco’s Om Records. Her Billboard charting singles “What Will She Do for Love” (2005), “IF” (2008) and Beatport #1 singles “Stay” (2009) and “Make Me Feel” (2009) have established her as one of dance music’s most dynamic stars.
Candy Talk, she says, will be no different. In addition to dishing out a limited number of digital releases per year, the label will pop audiences with a special edition vinyl pressing each December. Plans are already in the works for a nationwide, summer tour promoting the label and its first release, “Call on Me”--which includes everything from the grooving basslines of LCG’s “You Need Dub” mix to the squelchy, funk groove of the “Chuck Love Network Remix.”
Expect more fun sounds to come!
“Candy Talk is already dishing out an array of musical flavors--you’re gonna want to eat ‘em up!”
“Call on Me” (CTR001) is now available for download on Beatport, Traxsource, Stompy and iTunes. For more information on Candy Talk Records and upcoming tour dates, visit myspace.com/candytalkrecords.

Hailing from the US, Chuck Love embeds & spreads his unique brand of high energy, Dance Music, around the globe; raising rooftops, smoldering subwoofers and packing dancefloors. Known for his signature “Live DJ/Video” set, Chuck pulls triple duty as the DJ, a Vocalist and a Multi-Instrumentalist. The result: a ridiculous mix with some slamming, ‘on-the-fly-produced’ tracks showcased within the set. In 2010, Chuck launched his label, LOVE NETWORK, and has teamed up with Colette for the first release - UR EVERYTHING (with Remixes by Santiago & Bushido). His productions range from downtempo to minimal electronica to head-bopping 4/4 house - all infused with his signature soulful, jazzy flavor influenced by his Minneapolis roots. |
Chuck Love teams up with the leading lady of Dance Music, Colette, to deliver his first release, UR EVERYTHING, on his new label, LOVE NETWORK. With remixes by Chuck as well as Santiago & Bushido, the package offers something for any lover of electronic music. For the old school House Music Fans, Chuck offers up his Main Mix (along with a Radio Edit) full of signature Chuck Love melodies layered with Colette’s signature, angelic lyrics. The Love Network Rework offers a ‘rocked out/pedal to the metal’ version of the track, complete with live instruments and a unique vision of what the original track could have been (stuck in a snow storm in June in Minneapolis). For the Tech House lovers, Santiago & Bushido’s Rubdown is a beater at it’s finest; white light, white heat, designed to melt the audience with a Rubdown Edit with the same flavor and a little less vocal. Lastly, for those Fans who appreciate a more stripped down, hypnotic beat - the Hybrid Dub; guaranteed to work the dancefloor into a frenzy.

“Love the different styles on the release. The S&B mixes hit right home for me. That sinister bassline and ghostly vocals work perfectly together. Great piece of work! Will definitely play this out! Being the old school head that I am I like the original versions as well. Classic house flavor. Chicago and San Francisco come to mind. Colette’s vocals are really nice and soothing. I was pleasantly surprised by the Love Network Rework. The “metal” edge works and would work on any alternate rock station for sure. Needs a video to go with it. Nice job!” - Chubby Fingers
JAY- J - IF I WANTED YOU - Remixes Part 1

Fans of Jackin to Soulful House, there’s something sure to please from Jay-J’s top downloaded song from his artist album, LOVE ALIVE. Featuring the Sexy vocals of Michelle Shaprow, "If I Wanted You" plays with the themes surrounding a burgeoning love affair. Emil Lanne’s remix is a dance floor pumpin and jackin mix full of head bobbin bounce. Harley & Muscle rework Jay-J’s track into the trademark smooth, deep and soulful groove. Giom places his mix right between the vibes of the other two remixers with a smooth, soulful yet bouncy jacking feel.
BRETT JOHNSON - Missing You
Beatport Pre-Release: February 2, 2010
 |
After years of intense negotiation, EIGHT-TRACKS has finally been able to snag an otherworldly release from our favorite psychedelic warrior, renowned DJ/producer Brett Johnson. Brett should need no introduction with his checkered past of releasing top notch bleeps and booms for labels like Classic Music Company, Freerange, and his own Aesoteric imprint. The last few years has found Brett wandering the globe and evading capture but finally our EIGHT-TRACKS team of techno-investigators were able to track him down at his Dallas-based secret headquarters. The result of this confrontation is "Missing You," a gloriously melancholy cut that successfully bridges Brett's affinity for potent house rhythms, Detroit-bred bass lines, and decidedly deeper intentions. It satisfies that necessary primal groove as it successfully strums the heartstrings...
